Objective Probability, and Conditional Reasoning seminar: Propensities and Conditional Probabilities

Isabelle Drouet (Sorbonne)

My talk will deal with the objection that Paul Humphreys raised against the propensity interpretation of probability, i.e. “Humphreys’ paradox”. A typology of existing answers and solutions is offered, which are confronted with Humphreys’ 2004 rejoinder. Finally, an original solution is formulated and discussed.
